Quick start

How to hide Google AI Overviews in Chrome.

Installing the extension is only the first step: protection starts off until you choose to enable it.

1. Install and enable

Choose Add to Chrome on this page and confirm installation in Chrome. Open AIBlock from the Extensions menu, then turn on Enable protection.

2. Check Search Protection

Open Settings from the popup. Keep Search Protection and Hide Google AI Overview enabled. The AI Mode control is separate; leave it off if you only want Overview cleanup.

3. Check Google Search

Return to a Google results page and reload it. Supported AI Overview surfaces should be hidden while ordinary results remain usable. Not every query displays an AI Overview, so its absence alone does not prove a match.

Want the original Google interface back? Turn off Enable protection and reload the page. Your individual feature choices remain saved. See the illustrated Search Protection example.

02 · AI Pause

Put one decision before the shortcut.

03 · AI Site Warning

04 · Google AI Cleanup

Reduce selected Google AI prompts.

Google AI Cleanup has separate controls for Gemini, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Drive. It targets selected entry points and verified recommendation or upgrade surfaces, not core editing or chat.

Settings

Choose the guardrails that fit.

The master switch and individual controls keep every protection optional.

Master protection

Turn all AIBlock guardrails on or off from one place.

Search controls

Control supported AI Overview and AI Mode cleanup separately.

Google product controls

Choose cleanup individually for Gemini, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Drive.

Reminder priority

AI Pause takes priority; AI Site Warning acts as the lighter fallback.

Privacy

Browser guardrails, not an AI intermediary.

AIBlock applies supported interface checks in the browser and does not provide an account or backend.

Local page checks

Enabled guardrails inspect only supported interface elements and text needed to apply them.

No AIBlock account

Core protection works without creating an account or sending prompts to AIBlock.

Local settings only

Settings and non-query status counts stay in Chrome; browsing history is not collected.

FAQ

Common questions.

Does AIBlock block all AI?

No. AIBlock applies four focused browser guardrails to supported surfaces. It is not a network-wide blocker, chatbot, or AI detector.

AI Overviews are still visible. What should I check?

Check that Chrome has enabled the extension, then check Enable protection, Search Protection, and Hide Google AI Overview. Reload the results page. If the issue remains, send your Chrome and AIBlock versions, the visible surface, and a redacted screenshot through AIBlock Support. Do not include private search terms or account information.

Does this turn off Google AI on my account or phone?

No. AIBlock hides supported surfaces in the Chrome browser where it is installed and enabled. It does not change your Google account settings or affect other browsers and devices.

Why can a supported AI surface remain visible?

Availability and interface markup can vary by query, account, region, language, and product updates. Report reproducible cases through AIBlock Support.

Does Google AI Cleanup read or change prompts and documents?

No. It targets supported interface controls and does not read, rewrite, or transmit prompt, chat, or document content.

Can the features be controlled separately?

Yes. AIBlock exposes separate settings for its guardrails and supported Google products.
